Brisbane, Feb 19 (ANI): Australia comprehensively beat India by 110 runs in the seventh one-day international of the Commonwealth Bank tri-series here on Sunday.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, managing a competitive total of 288 for five in 50 overs. In the reply India was bowled out for 178.
Michael Hussey, who top scored for Australia with 59, along with Peter Forrest who also struck a fifty helped Australia set a target of 289 for India.
Irfan Pathan was the pick of the bowlers from India, claiming three wickets but was on the expensive side, conceding 61 runs in his ten overs.
Apart from skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's half century (56), no Indian batsman looked comfortable against Australian pace attack, spearheaded by Ben Hilfenhaus, who claimed his maiden five-wicket haul (5/33) in the fifty over format.
The win has sent Australia back again on the top of the table in the tri-series significantly improving their chances of reaching the finals. (ANI)
