Sydney, Feb 18(ANI): It took four hours for an emergency crew to find an Indian tourist, who had lost his way and ended up on an isolated dark road in Queensland, while traveling from Melbourne to Cairns.
The 26-year old tourist informed emergency dispatchers he had hit a tree, did not know where he was and was 'afraid of animals'.
A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesman said crews received the call from the anxious man at 7.09 pm on Friday. He only had an old map with him and did not have a GPS, News.com.au reports.
As soon as the call was received, three ambulances were sent immediately on the rescue mission. They eventually found the man, who spoke only minimal English, on Langlo Road about 70km from Blackall.
"He had lacerations to his eye, ear and elbow, but was conscious and out of the vehicle by the time we found him," the QAS spokesman said.
It is understood the man somehow left the Landsborough Highway and was found near Lumeah Station around 11.30 p.m. (ANI)
