Ex boss Ranieri tells Villas-Boas to count his days at Chelsea

London , Fri, 17 Feb 2012 ANI

London, Feb 17(ANI): Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has warned current manager Andre Villas-Boas that his days are numbered at the club if he fails to win any trophy this season.

Ranieri, who now manages Inter Milan, believes Napoli will add to Villas-Boas' struggle to save his job by knocking Chelsea out of Europe

Ranieri was the first managerial victim of Roman Abramovich's Chelsea reign.e got the axe in May 2004 despite reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League and finishing second in the Premier League that season. Jose Mourinho took his place at the club.

"I think he has to win a trophy this year to stay in his job. I was sacked because I didn't win. That is the rule and nothing has changed," The Mirror Football quoted Ranieri, as saying.

Ranieri believes Chelsea is not in the right frame of mind and Napoli would be the favourites to win their Champions League tie against them.

"I think Chelsea now are not in a good psychological condition. This is a big match for Napoli and they are a strong team. They have shown what they can do this season by beating Manchester City," he added. (ANI)
