London, Feb 17 (ANI): Dereck Chisora, who will be fighting for the world heavyweight title fight with Vitali Klitschko on Friday, warmed up by sledging down a mountain earlier this week.
The 28-year-old boxer risked serious injury which would have cost him his first world title shot and 250,000 pounds pay-day when he went on the piste close to his hotel in snowy Munich.
Chisora, who was born and raised in Zimbabwe before moving to Britain aged 16, visited a nearby ski resort on Tuesday dressed just in a tracksuit.
The Londoner went hurtling down the mountain in a sledge before diving out into the snow but avoided serious injury ahead of taking on Ukraine's WBC champion Klitschko, 40, at the Olympiahalle.
"I asked at the hotel where I could go and they sent me in the direction of a mountain with one of my team John Ramos," the Mirror quoted him as saying.
"It took 25 minutes to get up to the top in a ski lift, and straight away the people waiting to go down looked at us like we were mad.
"They were all wearing waterproofs and we were just in our tracksuits so we stood out quite a bit.
"As soon we started going down I knew it was a mistake and was pretty scared because I was going so fast.
"I didn't realise there were no brakes and had to take drastic action so I just threw myself in the snow to stop myself going further.
"I fell into so much snow I was covered in the stuff, and it is something I will never do again. It is not a sport for me.
"Luckily there was a chair lift to take me back down and I was still back at the bottom before John finished his run," he added. (ANI)
