Iran denies involvement in blast outside Israel embassy in Delhi

New Delhi , Wed, 15 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): Iran's Ambassador to India, Seyed Mehdi Nabizadeh on Wednesday, denied his country's involvement in the car blast outside the Israel Embassy that injured four people.

Speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Nabizadeh said that the blast took place in India and the Indian agencies were still investigating the incident, while Israel had jumped to blame Tehran soon after the blast.

"I don't know how they can assume within a short time of one hour that to say who has done this. It has happened in India. If India's security says something like that then we have to verify. This is the real fact and it is not even under consideration. Really, it is...that always they are telling such a thing and that we will go behind it." Nabizadeh said.

He added that Iran would cooperate with India on the issue to thoroughly investigate the incident.

"We hope India, we hope they will talk, they will take serious reaction, they will verify the cases, the real positions and till now the final reactions have not come out, we are wishing and willing the reactions come soon," said Nabizadeh.

At 3.16 p.m. on Monday, an Innova car from Israeli embassy burst into flames after a biker planted an explosive on its rear and sped off. Two passengers from a nearby Indica were also affected by the blast.

The bombing took place in broad daylight some 500 meters from Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's residence.

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, on Tuesday, had strongly condemned the attack and said that a very well-trained bomber had carried out the attack and added that he is not pointing a finger at any particular group or organisation at the moment.

The perpetrator reportedly used the same method of attack, detonating an explosive device that had been attached magnetically to the vehicle that was used to assassinate an Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran last month.

Indian investigators have said they will probe all potential leads from home grown militant outfits to foreign groups during the course of their investigations. (ANI)
