'Islamabad under threat from militant outfits'

Islamabad, Mon, 13 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 13 (ANI): Pakistan capital Islamabad is once again under threat from militant outfits, well-placed sources have said.

The intelligence agencies believe the attacks could be conducted from the Margalla Hills and asked for adopting stringent measures to counter such threats, The News quoted sources, as saying.

The Interior Ministry has asked authorities, responsible for maintaining peace in the capital, to enhance security in the Margalla Hills.

Interior Ministry sources said that as many as 25 surveillance posts have already been set up at different points on the hills, while 25 more checkposts were being established.

Motorcycle as well as horse riding personnel of Police and Rangers would conduct round the clock patrolling on the tracks and sensitive points of the hills, sources said, adding that the Jandola village, which has been marked as the most sensitive at top of defence areas of sectors E-9 and E-10, was stringently under surveillance.

Meanwhile, a high-level meeting chaired by Rehman Malik was held on Sunday at the Ministry of Interior to review the security situation, the added. (ANI)
