Adelaide, Feb.13 (ANI): The search for a middle-order batsman on the right side of 30 might have ended after Peter Forrest's impressive debut, a sparkling 66 against India on Sunday.
According to Fox Sports, Forrest's knock could put Australia's ageing middle order on notice.
His 66 runs of 83 balls contained five fours and two sixes and laid the foundation for Australia's eventual losing total of 8-269.
Forrest's innings was a study in extremes; predominantly calmness at the crease but with bursts of brutal hitting.
His calmness has clearly influenced the selectors in picking Forrest despite his moderate one-day domestic record.
Coach and selector Mickey Arthur is on the record as saying the one-dayers are being used as a proving ground for the Tests. (ANI)
