New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to India Abdul Azeez Yoosuf has said that situation in Maldives has not reached the point that there should be any worry about the safety of Indians.
Yoosuf further added that Indian High Commissioner and the mission in Maldives are very efficient and there is no need to be concerned about the safety of Indians.
The High commissioner of Maldives was speaking to ANI correspondent over phone in New Delhi.
Meanwhile M Ganapathi, Secretary (West) in the External Affairs Ministry left for Male with a brief to assess the situation in Maldives.
In Maldives Former President Nasheed has called for fresh elections and there are reports of clashes between the security forces and Nasheed supporters from capital Male.
