Pangin, Feb 7 (ANI): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has given a clarion call to the people of his multiethnic state to develop a pan-Arunachal identity by rising above all differences to project the state as an example of 'unity in diversity'.

Addressing a massive gathering at remote Pangin in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang District on Monday, Tuki said: "Let that identity form the bedrock of our spirit for all-round development."

This himalayan tribal dominated area having a population of more than 13 lakhs comprises 24 major tribes and numerous sub-tibes is known for its unique cultural mosaic and time-tested rich traditions.

In this regard, Tuki recalled the contributions made by Prof Atul Sarma, a member of 13th Finance Commission.

As the Vice Chancellor of Arunachal University, Sarma had advocated the same concept at the Unity Festival of the Rajiv Gandhi University on March 04, 2006.

Tuki has initiated a meticulous process involving all senior officers to prepare the vision document for the 12th Five Year Plan (FYP).

He said the present GoAP is people-friendly and committed for all round development and maintenance of peace in every nook and corner of the state

The meeting being held here daily under the chairmanship of Planning Minister Chowna Mein would hold a threadbare discussion on capacity building, skill development and employment generation.

Tuki further informed that his government has given special attention to transparent e-governance, road and air communications, health, education, agro-horti-based industries, which he said holds the key for ensuring speedy progress and prosperity for a better tomorrow.

"The Trans-Arunachal Highway from Tawang in east to Kanubari in west will boost inter-district connectivity and bring rapid development besides enhancing economic growth of the people," he asserted.

Reiterating his government's commitment for taking up need-based development projects, Tuki urged the people to become willing partners of development by reflecting the Team Arunachal spirit to translate his government's plan into a reality.

Commenting on the state's 58,000 MW hydropower potentials, highest in the country, Tuki said that power projects would not only clamp unemployment problem but also enrich the state coffer.

Lashing out at mushrooming growth of NGOs, he lamented at the 'bandh' culture, which of late jeopardized the thrust given by the joint GoI-GoAP efforts to promote development. (ANI)
