Wellington, Feb 6(ANI): Former South African bowling coach Vincent Barnes has cautioned them about New Zealand's possible devious tactics.
The Proteas will tour New Zealand this month to play three T20s, three ODI and three Tests. The first match scheduled to take place on February 17.
He warned the Proteas that it is going to be a tough tour for them.
"New Zealand is a very pretty country and I believe as tourists it is wonderful to visit. As an overseas cricket team it is, however, not an easy tour," said Barnes.
Barnes said if the Black Caps become conscious of the visiting team's lack of talent then they would try their best to maximize their winning probability, Sports24 reports.
"It's almost as if they realize they don't have the talent and depth of the bigger cricket nations and they then try everything possible to improve their winning chances," he added.
He said the Kiwis would do everything to disturb the visiting team by using various tactics.
But Barnes believes this time around the South African players are mentally more stronger.
"Back then we were the inexperienced team, while New Zealand had guys like Stephen Fleming, Chris Cairns, Scott Styris and Nathan Astle."
"They constantly tried to unsettle us and it's something that Gary (Kirsten, SA coach) has to be mindful of. Luckily we're now very experienced and I don't think they (the Proteas) will be caught off guard," he added. (ANI)
