'Hosanna' was not meant to hurt sentiments, says 'Ek Deewana Tha' team

New Delhi, Sun, 05 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb 5 (ANI): The team for the upcoming film 'Ek Deewana Tha' has cleared the air over their song 'Hosanna'.

British model Amy Jackson, who stars in the flick said that being a Christian, she had been chanting hymns since the age of five and felt that the song would not hurt people's sentiments.

"When I had this song for the first time and ....it actually touched my heart. It's a beautiful song," the actress said.

Even the chief executive officer at Fox Star, Vijay Singh tried to clear the controversy surrounding the track.

"The position is very clear on this. We have a censor clearance for the song in the film," Singh said.

"As I have said that the final authority of the law of the land is the Censor Board, so we will never do anything which is wrong or which goes against the law in this country.

"We certainly respect that but I think equally we are looking for support from intelligence and media and intelligent people like you all that you can not have some one come up and just take a position which has no basis for it," he added.

The song, which has been composed by AR Rahman, got caught in a controversy when a Catholic community called as Catholic- Christian Secular Forum (CSF) wanted the removal of the word 'Hosanna' from the song, saying that it would upset the religious sentiments of Christians and Jews. (ANI)
