Scherzinger calm over 'X Factor' axing while Paula Abdul's furious

Washington, Fri, 03 Feb 2012 ANI

Washington, Feb 3 (ANI): Nicole Scherzinger seems to be handling the news of her axing from 'X Factor USA' much better than Paula Abdul.

The 33-year-old kept her head held high as she arrived back in Los Angeles from New York, and looked pretty and composed.

The former girlfriend of Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton confirmed the news on Twitter, but has made no response to the disappointing development other than to insist that she will now be freed up to focus on her music.

Abdul, on the other hand, can barely contain her wrath and made a statement laced with hurt and disbelief.

"I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations," Paula told the Daily Mailccording to a source close to the ex-singer/dancer, the soon to be 50-year-old found out a couple weeks ago from Steve Jones, whom she's close to, that he would probably not be coming back and although she found it hard to believe, he told her at the time that he heard she might not be returning either.

"Paula loved doing the show and was blindsided by the news," Radar Online quoted the source as saying.

"Everyone is afraid this is going to send her into a deep depression and cause her to revisit some of her old destructive behavior.

"After talking to Steve, Paula phoned Simon [Cowell] to ask him if the rumors were true, and he admitted that the powers that be at Fox didn't think she was 'edgy' enough to be brought back, but that he was working on trying to convince them to keep her on.

"And he told her if by some twist of fate he couldn't save her job, he would line something else up for her soon.

The source said that Abdul came to know about R and B queen Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles replacing her, which made her more upset.

"Paula heard they want to replace her and Nicole with Mariah and Beyonce, and she didn't see any difference between her and them - unless you consider the fact they are both a lot younger and they both just became new moms.

"Paula will be really upset if one of those women ends up filing her chair, because neither woman has ever been on a panel and she doesn't know what makes Simon, or anyone else, think someone inexperienced like that will help boost ratings.

Meanwhile, Cowell is trying to put the blame on show's executives.

"Simon is doing his best to blame the firings on Fox - but like Paula says, 'Studio Execs obviously have a lot to say about what happens on their shows, but come on, I find it hard to believe anyone is going to tell Simon Cowell what to do'," the source added. (ANI)
