Melbourne, Feb 2 (ANI): Midas Shoes, the company that made the shoe Julia Gillard lost on Australia Day, has redesigned it to have a strap.
The company wants to make sure the Prime Minister of Australia is never left barefoot again.
Gillard was wearing the company's "Glorify" shoe when she had to be hustled out of a Canberra restaurant surrounded by Aboriginal protesters.
The lost navy blue suede wedge-heel pump was initially posted on eBay for sale but later returned to a security guard at Parliament House.
"For all those pesky everyday situations like running from mobs of fans and escaping political debacle, these glass slippers won't come off," the Herald Sun quoted the Midas website as saying.
Midas is even asking its shoe fans to vote on its website between two styles, currently named "Gillard Mark 1" and "Gillard Mark 2".
One of the "getaway shoes" has an ankle strap and the other buckles over the centre of the foot.
Midas marketing manager Greg Parmenter told the Canberra Times the Glorify style had become the company's most popular shoe in terms of people looking at it online.
They had sold 14 pairs in the week since the protest. (ANI)
