New Delhi/Noida: Income-Tax officials today raided the residences and offices of liquor baron Ponty Chadha.
Gurpreet Chadha also known as Ponty Chadha is considered to be a close aide of UP Chief Minister Mayawati. mong the places raided today include his farmhouse in Chhattarpur in Delhi and office located in Centrestage Mall in Noida.
Chadha, first made headlines when Maywati handed him over the entire distributorship of liquor in UP.
As per reports, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Income Tax moved into raid 17 locations after a go ahead by the Finance Ministry.
Besides liquor business, Chadha also owns a chain of multiplexes - under Wave brand - in the National Capital Region.
It is reported that around 100 crore rupees have been seized from the basement of Centrestage Mall in Noida during the raid.
Sources also inform that two of his close associates Lalit Kapoor and Gurjeet Kochar from Delhi, who are alleged to be partners in hawala transactions, have been detained for questioning. (ANI)

The income tax officials have been misled which is clearly evident the Chadha group has been completely cooperating with the officials to conduct the search which the department had initiated. Further Chadha group is a progressive conglomerate which has been known for its commitment to customers and investors. One should not be affected by such news.
