Costa Concordia survivors hoping for bounty through sale of souvenirs on eBay

London, Feb 1 (ANI): Passengers of the ill-fated Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia are trying to make money by auctioning items from the capsized liner on eBay.

The souvenirs from the disaster liner up for sale including a one euro casino token, which are being sold from a starting point of 900 dollars.

A seller called gkaac from Massachusetts in the US, has offered buyers a chance to purchase the 'genuine' object for 1,800 dollars.

A model of the ship is also being sold by German user manlux1, from Heidelberg, for 199 dollars (?126.91). Several members are trying to sell postcards of the ship, The Daily Mail reports.

News of the auctions come after it was revealed by the ship's doctor that Captain Francesco Schettino changed his uniform, grabbed his laptop and then abandoned the stricken cruise liner as hundreds of passengers and crew were still onboard.

The doctor's story emerged as officials in charge of the rescue operation announced that they would no longer be searching the submerged sections of the Concordia for the bodies of 15 people still missing.

Meanwhile, Schettino is under house arrest and is facing charges of causing a shipwreck, abandoning ship and multiple counts of manslaughter after crashing his 1,000ft vessel into a rocky Island. (ANI)
