Lahore, Feb 1(ANI): Pakistan People's Party Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the Memo scandal conspiracy was hatched only to divert international attention from the Salala checkpost attack.
"Court findings and the report of the parliamentary committees on the memogate will reveal beneficiaries shortly," The Dawn quoted Kaira, as saying.
He said former envoy Husain Haqqani had not established any contact with the US government for seeking protection for the Pakistan's democracy and added that Haqqani did not need an intermediary like Mansoor Ijaz to get in touch with US officials.
He said it was unfortunate that matters pertaining to the parliament were being dragged into the courts, adding that such acts portrayed democracy in a bad light.
Kaira said some political leaders blindly believed Pakistani- American businessman Mansoor Ijaz's claims.
He also rejected claims that security lapses led to the May 2 raid resulting in the death of former Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and added it could not be deemed as an act of negligence on the part of Pakistan's intelligence agencies.
"It was not government, cabinet or parliament's job to hunt Osama Bin Laden but intelligence and security agencies," he said.(ANI)
