NATO attack that killed 24 Pak soldiers 'was unintentional': Munter

Islamabad, Tue, 31 Jan 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Jan 31 (ANI): US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter has said the NATO attack on the Salala check post that killed 24 Pakistan soldiers was not deliberate, and assured that such incidents will never occur again in future.

The News quoted him as saying that the attack was an incident, and the US feels sorry for that.

"The US wanted to keep people to people relationship," Munter added.

In November last year, the NATO attacks had killed 24 security personnel and injured 12 soldiers at a Pakistani check post in Salala, an area bordering the Kunar province of Afghanistan. At least 40 soldiers were stationed at the check post.

This led to huge protests in the country, souring the relationship between Pakistan and the US. (ANI)
