Melbourne, Jan 31(ANI): Out-of favour wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has confirmed that he has been dropped rather than rested from Australian ODI squad, and vowed to be ready for a recall.
"I think any time you're out of the Australian cricket team I think you're dropped. You give another guy an opportunity to take your spot, and, you've got to look if they do well, you could find it hard to get back in the team. But that's the way it is and I've just got to deal with that and make sure I'm ready to play," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Haddin, as saying.
His statement comes after the chairman of the National Selection Panel(NSP), John Inverarity had said that Haddin was rested for the ODI series, and might be recalled for the latter half of the series.
Haddin conceded that his poor form has provided an opportunity to Matthew Wade, and added that the latter might be included as a second wicketkeeper for the West Indies tour.
Haddin was under fire for his below par Test performances, and Wade was being touted as his likely replacement.
Haddin said he understood the need for giving Wade proper international cricket exposure.
Haddin will lead the Prime Minister's XI against Sri Lanka in Canberra on February 3.
" I'm actually looking forward to the PM's game, for someone from Canberra, it's a great opportunity to get back and captain that side," he said.
"It's what it is at the moment. I've just got to make sure the next time I get an opportunity again I'm ready to go and I know I will be," he added.(ANI)
