Karachi, Jan 30(ANI): Former Pakistan captain and cricket commentator Aamir Sohail has described the Decision Review System as a wake-up call for all batsmen worldwide and added that they will have to devise a new strategy to tackle bowlers.
"The DRS is also a reminder to all batsmen as to why they are called batsmen, quite simply it's because they have a bat in their hands and that they should know how to use the bat," Pak Passion.net quoted Sohail, as saying.
He also rejected claims that Pakistani batsmen's approach was one-dimensional in the Abu Dhabi Test and admitted that the pitch conditions were difficult for batsman.
Sohail said the difficulties faced by England's batting middle order in tackling Pakistan's spin attack in the first Test in Dubai still played on their minds in Abu Dhabi.
"The masterstroke by Ajmal of stating that he had developed the Teesra before the series had started left some of the England batsmen hunting the Teesra. That pressure and confusion is still there and it is being augmented by the fact that the Pakistani spinners are bowling a very probing and demanding line and length," he added.
Sohail also rejected that Pakistani batsman Younis Khan is out of form and added that the delivery that he received in the second innings in Abu Dhabi was extraordinary and I thought Monty Panesar was at his best when he was bowling to Younis."
He lauded Misbah-ul- Haq's captaincy saying that he had tackled difficult situations methodically and has inculcated discipline in the team.
Sohail also praised Pakistan players, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq, saying they tackled pressure ably and approached their innings well in the Abu Dhabi Test. (ANI)
