London, Jan 29(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has described his team's last gasp defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth-round clash as a 'sickening blow'.
Liverpool defeated United last night at Anfield with the help of an 88th minute goal from Dirk Kuyt after Ji-Sung Park had cancelled out Daniel Agger's opener.
Ferguson, who clearly felt his team was the better side, said it was tough to believe that United had lost the match.
"We were the better team, but that's FA Cup football I'm afraid... To lose it is a real sickening blow," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
"To lose the game is hard to believe. We dominated the game and we were comfortable.
Our movement off the ball was good and I thought we were in the driving seat. Just one breakaway, one bad break against you, and you can lose the game," he added.
But Ferguson lauded his player's efforts and claimed United deserved to win the match.
"It's a sudden-death situation and we've experienced it many times over the years. But I'm pleased with my players, they performed very well, dominated the game, didn't deserve to be beaten at all in fact," he added. (ANI)
