Ashes failure stirred Clarke to perform magnificently against India

Sydney, Sun, 29 Jan 2012 ANI

Sydney, Jan 29(ANI): Australian captain Michael Clarke believes his shoddy performances last summer during the Ashes have enthused him to perform magnificently against India in the recently concluded Test series.

Clarke was the man of the series against India scoring 626 runs at an average of 125.20, which included a triple hundred, and a double hundred.

He could only manage a paltry average of 21.44 against England last summer but feels he is in the best form of his career now.

"The disappointment of last summer has inspired a few of us. There's been a bit of fire in the belly. It's a very special feeling to sit here beating India four-nil knowing that last summer I couldn't buy a run," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Clarke, as saying.larke will now lead the Australian one-day side for a triangular series against world champions India and world cup finalist Sri Lanka.

The first match of the series would be played on February 5 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between Australia and India. (ANI)
