Melbourne, Jan 28(ANI): Australia's team performance manager Pat Howard has dismissed the notion that players' age was taken into consideration in selecting the squad for the upcoming Twenty 20 matches against India.
"The T20 World Cup is this year, it's about winning this year, so age was not a factor and we wanted to have a look at performances. I support them 100 per cent on that team, it's a form team," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Howard, as saying.
His statement came after Cricket Australia named a 14-member squad for the forthcoming Twenty 20 tournament against India.
The selection of 40-year old Brad Hogg in the squad, even after four years of his retirement, substantiated Howard's claims.
George Bailey, who had averaged 19 in the Bash Bash tournament, has been chosen to lead the side.
The squad is as follows:-
George Bailey (c), David Warner (vc) Travis Birt, Dan Christian Xavier Doherty,James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Hogg, David Hussey, Brett Lee, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Clint McKay and Matthew Wade(ANI)
