London, Jan 26 (ANI): People in Britain are likely to spend a year and a half of their life waiting for doctors' appointments, suffer 152 migraines and battle 133 coughs and colds, a new lifestyle portrait has revealed.

According to the fascinating portrait of the health lifestyle of the average person, Brits will also endure 210 backaches, have seven stitches and break one bone, as well as falling victim to three accidents requiring medical treatment.

On an average, they will spend 13,713 hours waiting for a doctor's appointment, 14 nights in hospital, 46 hours in GPs' waiting rooms and 81 minutes each time we visit A and E.

The research, for Health-On-Line and YouGov, was carried out over two months, questioning 2,099 people. It found an average Brit suffers 133 coughs and colds in a lifetime. Other ailments include 173 tummy upsets, 152 migraines and 106 breakouts of spots.

The survey also revealed that they will take an average of 43 days off work as a result of stress-related illness.

More than half (53 per cent) say they are less healthy than they were 10 years ago. Yet people appear unwilling to give up their vices, sinking an average of 5,800 pints or 8,700 glasses of wine over the course of a lifetime, and they are twice as likely to be overweight than the French, Italians or Spanish.

"No-one has ever compiled such a comprehensive prediction of the frequency of our illnesses over a lifetime and - crucially - how long we wait to receive treatment for them," the Daily Express quoted a Health-On-Line spokesman as saying.

"If there is one key message this report has, it's this: your own health life story isn't written yet. Everyone's is different, but this report provides a prompt to think about which areas most need attention.

"By putting safeguards in place to look after health issues that most affect us, we can make a real difference to our long-term wellbeing," he added. (ANI)
