Hyderabad, Thu, 26 Jan 2012 ANI

Hyderabad, Jan.26 (ANI): The stall set up by inmates of the Cherlapalli Prison in Hyderabad, attracted customers at the All India Industrial Exhibition recently.

Visitors expressed their delight over the handicrafts and savouries, which were available at reasonable prices.

They said such opportunities would help jailed inmates to enhance their creative talent and potential, and make them self reliant.

"I am using the items made in the prison for a long time and I quite like the items and therefore, visit the exhibition again and again," said Shaheda Husen, a visitor.

Cherlapalli Prison inspector S. M. Mehadi said the items, including bed sheets, soaps and towels were in great demand. He said the profit earned from their sale would be used to rehabilitate the inmates.

"We deposit the profit earned in the Prison Development Fund," said Mehadi.

The exhibition was organised by the Exhibition Society at the Nampally Grounds. (ANI)
