Tehran, Jan 24 (ANI): Tehran has reportedly closed Zero Point, the trade gate between Pakistan and Iran, in the bordering town of Taftan.
The Daily Times quoted the area's local administration, as saying that Iranian border officials cited security arrangements ahead of a religious festival in Iran as the reason for the closure, adding that the gate was closed for an indefinite period.
Meanwhile, the affected traders in Pakistan have demanded that the authorities concerned must take up the issue with Iran and reopen the trade gate as soon as possible.
This trend is not new both for Pakistan and Iran, as the border was closed down for three months starting from September 24, 2011, after the firing incident in Mastung. It was opened in December last year.
According to security sources, the borders were re-opened after successful talks between Pakistani and Iranian officials. (ANI)
