'Outraged' Rushdie slams Rajasthan cops for 'inventing a plot to keep him away'

London, Jan 22 (ANI): Controversial Indian-origin author Salman Rushdie took to he micrblogging site Twitter to express his anger over Rajasthan police, saying they inventing plot to keep him away from the Jaipur Literature Festival.

 

"Rajasthan police invented plot to keep away Rushdie' I've investigated, and believe that I was indeed lied to. I am outraged and very angry," he tweeted.

 

Rushdie recently called off his visit to India for the Jaipur Literature Festival citing security grounds.

 

Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband and various Muslim groups had opposed his visit to the country.

 

Iternationally acclaimed author had earned the wrath of Muslims worldwide due to the alleged blasphemous content in his novel "The Satanic Verses" which was published in 1988. (ANI)
