'Let's stay together' upped Obama's chances of reelection, says bookie

Washington, Sun, 22 Jan 2012 ANI

Washington, Jan 22 (ANI): A bookmaker has said that Barack Obama's rendition of 'Let's Stay Together' at a New York fundraiser on Thursday night has bolstered his chances of reelection.

After seeing a video of the US President singing a line from Rev Al Green's 1970s hit to an adoring crowd at Harlem's historic Apollo Theater, the oddsmaker Paddy Power announced that Obama's prospects have been tightened from 8:11 to 4:6.

The bookie believes that after the "spectacular", "relaxed and charismatic" performance, the president and the US electorate may be in it for the long haul after 2012.

"We're calling it the 'Al Green' effect. We can't get the song out of our heads after seeing the video of him at the Apollo," Politico quoted a press release from Paddy Power as saying.

"Policies are important but so too is the ability to move and motivate people and Obama does that effortlessly," it said. (ANI)
