Damascus, Jan 22 (ANI): Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh will leave soon for Oman, and is expected to arrive in the United States later in the week, it has emerged.
It is unclear how long Saleh would stay in the US, though the spokesman for the Yemeni embassy in Washington tweeted that Saleh had no plans to relocate permanently outside of Yemen or to seek political asylum in the US.
Saleh had applied for a US visa weeks ago, citing a desire to seek medical treatment.
Yemeni officials said that Saleh plans to return to Yemen once his treatment is over, ABC News reports.
According to some media reports, he may go back to Oman.
A spokesman for the State Department declined to comment on the matter. (ANI)
