Miami (Florida, US), Jan.21 (ANI): Carnival Cruises, the parent company of the ship Costa Concordia that toppled over near an Italian island, has announced a safety review for their entire fleet.
A retired US Navy captain will take charge of a fleet-wide review, The Telegraph reports.
Carnival Cruises Chairman Micky Arison has questioned the "safety and emergency response procedures and practice" after the Italian cruise ship sank with the loss of 11 lives.
Captain James Hunn, the company's senior vice president of Maritime Policy and Compliance, will lead a team reviewing all aspects of safety aboard the dozens of liners in Carnival's fleet.
"Hunn will report to the Health, Environment, Safety and Security Committee of the Board, and to Howard Frank, vice chairman and chief operations officer of Carnival Corporation and plc.
"This company-wide initiative will identify lessons learned and best practices to further ensure the security and safety of all of our passengers and crew."
Hunn had a 32-year career with the US Navy before joining Carnival in 2002.
The company's head office is in Miami, Florida. (ANI)
