Dense fog engulfs New Delhi, disrupts normal life

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Heavy misty conditions disrupted air, rail and road traffic causing inconvenience to residents in New Delhi on Thursday.

 

According to media reports, as many as 30 international and domestic flights were delayed, and at least three were cancelled.

 

Bipin Kumar, a resident said the traffic moved at snail's pace on roads owing to the dense fog and poor visibility.

 

"When I came out in the morning, I saw that it was very foggy and the traffic on the road was moving very slowly, also the trains are delayed and it is very cold and we are facing a lot of problems," he said.

 

Chilly weather conditions continue to sweep across the plains of North India.

 

Another resident, Arun Pal, said that poor people were finding it difficult to get shelter in the prevailing cold conditions.

 

The severe cold wave has claimed the lives of 165 people across the country.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast more cold and foggy days ahead with minimum temperatures in the region expected to hover between 5 to 7 degrees Celsius. (ANI)
