Delhi BJP leader terms NDMC 2012-13 budget proposals as anti-people and misleading

New Delhi, Thu, 19 Jan 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Jan.19 (ANI): Senior Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Karan Singh Tanwar on Thursday described the New Delhi Muncipal Corporation (NDMC) budget proposals for 2012-13 as anti-people and misleading.

Describing the New Delhi Muncipal Corporation as one of richest municipal corporations of Asia, Tanwar said the figure of income of Rs.1954.45 crores and the expenditure of Rs.1681.44 crores with a net profit of Rs.273 crores was misleading, as the losses had been increasing for the last many years.

He further said that the recurring losses were taking place for want of developmental projects and rampant corruption prevailing in most of its departments and the dictatorial attitude of its officers.

This is why the NDMC, was always on the verge of bankruptcy and able to pay the salaries to its employees, he said.

Tanwar further said it was amusing that the Chairperson of the NDMC had not presented any new project or draft work or any project for the welfare of people despite making promises to this effect in the last budget.

Tanwar warned that "Empty drums sound louder" while targetting the Sheila Dikshit administration.

Tanwar demanded the immediate intervention of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram to end rampant acts of corruption in the NDMC. (ANI)
