Islamabad, Jan 17 (ANI): Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri has said that the Sindh government will bear all expenses for the treatment of legendary musician Mehdi Hassan for his contribution in this field for 50 years and for promoting Pakistan internationally.
The provincial minister visited the ailing classical singer on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Monday and presented a bouquet to him, the Daily Times reports.
She said that Hassan is a cultural asset of Pakistan and his services could not be ignored.
Marri reportedly assured the singer's son Arif Mehdi of bearing all expenses on Mehdi Hassan's treatment.
Talking to journalists at the Aga Khan Hospital, she said a medical board would be constituted under the supervision of senior doctors, and if needed, he would be sent abroad on doctors' recommendation. (ANI)
