Poonch, Dec 29 (ANI): Security personnel in Kashmir have intensified vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) as they fear infiltration to pick up with the melting of snow at high altitudes.
The Indian Army has stepped up patrolling along the fence and have equipped its units with high-tech devices like powerful night-vision goggles to check any attempts by Pakistan-based militants to sneak in.
Officials say Pakistan-based militant groups have stepped up infiltration into Kashmir across the LoC before winter snow blocks the high Himalayan mountain passes.
"They try to infiltrate every year especially just before or after the snowfall so that they can create problems here. But our army is extremely vigilant at the border. We are ready to tackle the situation. We have our surveillance on the fence 24 hours a day. With the help of sophisticated gadgets that we have, we keep an eye on the Line of Control under any circumstances," said J. P. Nehara, Lieutenant General, Indian Army.
Indian troops all along the LoC were on high alert and ready to deal with any such misadventures from the other side.
The infiltration continues despite a ceasefire between the two armies and a three-metre-high barbed wire security fence along most of the 742-km long LoC. (ANI)
