Lucknow, Sept 27 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Saturday appealed to Muslims in the country to support the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya and claimed this was also the wish of majority of the citizens.
Addressing a public meeting in Moradabad town in western Uttar Pradesh Saturday evening, Advani said: 'In the same way, Sardar Patel had got the Somnath Temple erected when Jawaharlal Nehru was the prime minister, the country's Muslims should cooperate in the building of a Ram Temple with mutual cooperation.'
Advani, who is also the party's prime ministerial candidate, appealed to the Muslims, without naming the Babri Masjid Action Committee, to withdraw their court case against the construction of the temple.
The public meeting was part of the Vijay Sankalp rallies planned by the BJP across the country. Hundreds of party workers attended the rally.
Advani said it was also his wish that a temple was constructed in Ayodhya. He hoped a temple would be built.
