Taylor must 'get back to his best' for Kiwis to upset India in ODI series

Guwahati, Sat, 27 Nov 2010 ANI

Guwahati, Nov 27(ANI): New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor's form would be crucial for the Blacks Caps' chances of wining the five-match ODI series against India, a noted cricket columnist has said.

Taylor had a Test series to forget against India, as he scored 136 runs in the three matches at an average of 27.

"With the World Cup in the subcontinent just two months away time is running out for Taylor to get back to his best," Geoff Longley wrote in an article for Stuff.co.nz.

"Taylor has invariably been getting himself out rather than the bowlers getting the better of him," he added.

He further highlighted that although India is not fielding their strongest side, they will still field a competitive outfit in home conditions.

"New Zealand are struggling to live down their 4-0 beating in the one-day series by Bangladesh last month, although two fighting Test draws against India before the capitulation earlier this week in Nagpur boded well," Taylor said.

"Now they must put that poor performance behind them and get their campaign tuned for the World Cup in February and March," he added. (ANI)
