Clarke's old back problem resurfaces ahead of Ashes

Sydney , Sat, 13 Nov 2010 ANI

Sydney, Nov 13 (ANI): Australia's vice captain Michael Clarke's old form may have returned but so has a troubling back injury just three days before announcement of the Australian squad for the Ashes series.

Clarke made a polished 113 and was the last man out at lunch in the New South Wales first innings of 263 in the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the SCG on Friday, but then sat out the entire second and third sessions resting his ongoing back problem.

He initially felt sore after the opening day and then aggravated his back further by spending nearly six hours in total at the crease.

"After day one I pulled up a bit sore. And then batting I again pulled up a little bit stiff today, so we thought obviously with what's coming up I'm better off just doing the right things and I had some treatment," The Syndey Morning Herald quoted Clarke, as saying.

"I've got to see how it pulls up tomorrow morning, but hopefully I'll be right to get back out there tomorrow. I'm certainly not too concerned about it to be honest. I was just listening to the experts and doing what was right," he added.(ANI)
