Patiala, Sept 23 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that active involvement of youth was imperative in politics for the development of the country.
"I believe that not just in Punjab, but in the entire country, youths should have access to politics and their voices should be heard in decision making. Thus, we are undertaking organizational elections here. We are taking care that these elections are fair and are done in a systematic manner. We have included election commissioners as well and have assigned the responsibility of fairness.
I believe that for the development of entire Punjab youth plays a very vital role and they should come forward and actively associate themselves in politics," Rahul said.
Rahul was in Patiala to eat traditional Punjabi food of 'Sarson ka Saag' and 'Makki ki Roti'
Rahul, who began his three-day Punjab visit from Monday, will visit the districts of Bathinda, Muktsar, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Gurdaspur today.
Before proceeding to the districts of Nawanshahr, Kapurthala and Ludhiana, he will participate in a Scheduled Caste (SC) convention and Girls' Convention at Jalandhar and Gurdaspur, respectively.
Meanwhile, the proposed youths rally at Rampura Phul in Bathinda district, which was to be addressed by Rahul has been cancelled due to security reasons. (ANI)
