Mendhar (J-K), Sep 15 (ANI): Three people have been killed and seven others have reportedly been injured in protests against burning of the Quran in Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar region.
According to reports, the clashes took place when a protest to show solidarity with the Valley against the Quran burning plan turned violent. The police reportedly fired on protesters to control them.
Meanwhile, curfew continues to remain in force in Srinagar, Budgam and adjoining areas including Chadoora in central Kashmir, Ganderbal and adjoining areas including Kangan in north-east of the valley.
Anantnag, Kulgam, Qoimoh, Pulwama, Shopian, Pampore, Awantipora, Tral in south Kashmir, Tangmarg, Sopore, Kupwara, Trehgam, Kralpora, Handwara, Chotipora, Kulangam and Bandipora districts were also under curfew.
There were some incidents of stone pelting and clashes in Baramulla, Srinagar and Chadoora on Tuesday.
Some people tried to set ablaze a revenue office at Sopore but timely action of police saved the building.
At least 75 people have died in the last three months. The valley has also been subjected to a series of shutdowns and frequent curfews during this period. (ANI)
