Hisar (Haryana), Sep 14 (ANI): Curfew was imposed in several parts of Haryana's Hisar District on Tuesday after a large number of agitators demanding OBC reservation for Jat community damaged public property and set on fire a bank and a petrol pump.
The district administration sought the help of the Army to control the situation.
The protestors have jammed Bhiwani-Chandigarh, Hisar-Chandigarh, Rohtak-Bahuakbar, Jind-Patiala, Loharu-Hisar, Loharu-Dadri national highways.
They also blocked the National Highway (NH) No 10 connecting Hisar with Delhi and another highway connecting Hisar with state capital Chandigarh.
According to police sources, they also set a few vehicles on fire, including an oil tanker. Two buses of the Haryana Roadways were also set on fire by the protestors near Surrewala chowk.
The Haryana Roadways has suspended all bus operations in the violence affected areas.
Meanwhile, the All-India Jat Mahasabha has announced that members of the Sabha will organise a token hunger strike on Wednesday at all the district headquarters of the state to press for their demand.
The violence broke out in the areas on Monday during which one person was killed and several others injured as police opened fire on protesters. (ANI)
