New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan, who were arrested after Friday's encounter with Delhi Police's Special Cell at Jamia Nagar here, have been sent to 14 days of police custody.
They were produced in Tees Hazari Court today by the Delhi Police.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police claimed that Saif has confessed to his role in the September 13 Delhi serial blasts that claimed about 30 lives and maimed close to 100.
Saif revealed during interrogation that Atif alias Abu Bashar, who was killed in the encounter with Delhi Police's Special Cell, was the head of the Indian Mujhaideen and masterminded the serial blasts and not Abdul Subhan alias Tauqeer as suspected earlier.
Bashar was also the mastermind of the recent blasts in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Uttar Pradesh.
Two Indian Mujhaideen terrorists, Bashar and Sajid, were killed in the operation at Jamia Nagar's Batla House. While Saif, who was injured in the gunbattle, was arrested immediately, Zeeshan, who was believed to be an aide of Bashar, was taken into custody while he was giving an interview to a news channel. Two other accomplices managed to escape from the encounter site.
The police claimed that all five men involved in the encounter were from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
About ten suspects, including Saif, Zeeshan, Sajid and Bashar, planted the bombs in Delhi. While Bashar had planted bombs at Greater Kailash market, Saif planted the bomb outside Regal Cinema and in Central Park at Connaght place. Sajid and Zeeshan placed the bombs at Barakhamba Road.
The Delhi Police has launched a massive manhunt for the remaining suspects. (ANI)
