New Delhi, Aug 28 (ANI): Veena Kohli, the mother of Shaurya Chakra awardee Captain Sumit Kohli, who died under mysterious circumstances four years ago in Kupwara, met Defence Minister AK Antony here today and appealed him to deliver justice to the family, as she believes her son was murdered at the army residential complex in Jammu and Kashmir by his fellow officers.
Talking to reporters after meeting the Defence Minister, she said the government has assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted in the case.
"I met the Defence Minister today who gave us a positive response and has assured thorough investigations into the case. My son was definitely a victim of conspiracy," she added.
Meanwhile, Kohli's lawyer said, "The Defence minister gave us an assurance and asked to give him time to study the case.
"He assured that a proper inquiry will be conducted," he added.
Captain Sumit Kohli, who was posted with 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) battalian in Kupwara, was found dead in his quarters on April 30, 2006. Army authorities claimed that he had killed himself with his service AK-47. (ANI)
