Maoists set six trucks on fire in Chhattisgarh

Dantewada , Sat, 14 Aug 2010 ANI

Dantewada, Aug 14 (ANI): Around 60 armed Maoists set at least six trucks loaded with iron ore on fire in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada District on Saturday.

According to sources, Naxalites intercepted the iron ore loaded trucks between Bacheli and Nareli and torched them.

Maoists, who issued a call for boycotting India's 63rd Independence Day, blocked the road to the site of attack with felled trees to prevent security forces from reaching there. The trucks that were burnt belonged to private contractors and were carrying iron ore for Essar Steel, sources added.

In a separate incident, Maoists have killed three villagers whom they had kidnapped from the Bijapur district a couple of days ago.

The Naxalites kidnapped these villagers from Murdeda and nearby villages suspecting them to be police informers.

Chhattisgarh is one of the most highly Naxal infested state in the country. (ANI)
