New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): Defence Minister A K Antony led the nation in paying tributes to Kargil martyrs, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, at Amar Jawan Jyoti in the national capital on Monday.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal PV Naik and Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt General PC Bhardwaj accompanied Antony on the occasion.
The Kargil war also known as Kargil conflict was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in Jammu and Kashmir's Kargil District and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC).
The conflict is also referred to as Operation Vijay which was the name of the successful Indian operation to push back the infiltrators from the Kargil sector. (ANI)
