Jhargram (West Bengal), July 25 (ANI): Hundreds of villagers took out a protest march in West Bengal's Jhargram, a sub divisional municipality in the Paschim Medinipur district, here on Sunday against the atrocities being perpetrated on them by Maoists in the region.
About 2,000 residents of Sebayatan and Radhanagar villages marched for several kilometers to demand from the State administrative officials a protection for their families from the Maoists.
Raising anti-Maoists slogans, hundreds of women with sticks in their hands complained harassment at the hands of the Maoists.
"If suppose women are sleeping inside their houses, they (Maoists) enter the houses and manhandle with them. They even beat us," said Salema Bibi, one of the agitated protestors.
Protestors also said that the Maoist forces the locals to join them and if anyone disagrees they are tortured and punished by the rebels. (ANI)
