Mahabalipuram, July 15 (ANI): In a bid to attract tourists, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) on Wednesday launched an adventure tourism complex in Mahabalipuram.
The Beach Resort Complex has been designed to offer adventure sports on both land and sea to the tourists.
The complex was inaugurated by N. Suresh Rajan, Tamil Nadu state Minister of Tourism by flagging off the traditional Indian bullock cart ride.
The main aim behind introducing the bullock cart rides is to make tourists aware of the traditional mode of transport popular in the region.
The first-of-its-kind complex down south offers several sports like archery, balloon shooting, target shooting and netball cricket.
" Mahabalipuram is not only an international tourist place, it is an UNESCO site also. And it is covered by sea. Water surfing, water kiting, parasailing can only be done only in the beaches and sea," said Mohandoss, Managing Director of TTDC.
"We enjoyed this place a lot. The beach, the sun, all the green, the palms, coconuts, pineapples, cows, very nice to be here on a holiday in India," said Melanie Freya, a tourist from Denmark.
The state tourism development authority chose Mahabalipuram as the site for the adventure complex as the town has always been a major tourist hub because of its exotic beaches and famed temple architecture.
This complex is an endeavour to give the town an image makeover and convert it into a choice destination for sports enthusiasts as well. (ANI)
