Poonch, June 3 (ANI), June 3 (ANI): Security forces gunned down a commander of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, personnel of Indian Army and state police launched a joint combing operation to flush out the militants from Theru Top near Gali Girjan in Surankote region.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, one militant killed while other managed to be escape in an injured condition.
The slain militant was identified as Abu Umar alias Nazakat Ali.
AK-56, two magazines, 15 live rounds of AK-56, two Chinese grenades, two rucksacks, cutting pliers, a knife were recovered from the site.
According to Manmohan Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch Range, the slain militant was active in the region for the last three years.(ANI)
