Nov 24: Pakistan's leg-spinner Danish Kaneria feels the match is evenly balanced at the end of day two and it is still wide open for both the teams to register a victory. He described Mahendra Singh Dhoni's wicket as a crucial breakthrough for Pakistan to stage a comeback in the first cricket Test against India.
Kaneria said the match was now evenly poised and could go either way. He also said that his team would like to set a 300-run target against India to win the match.
"First it was Sachin Tendulkar's run out and later breaking the Dhoni-Laxman partnership turned out very important for us. Dhoni is an aggressive player who keeps the scoreboard ticking. So claiming his wicket has helped the team a lot," Kaneria said.
"Tomorrow's morning session is crucial for both the teams, as it holds the key and whosoever seizes the opportunity in the first session could end up winning the match."
Dhoni's dismissal at wrong time: Laxman
Elegant middle order batsman VVS Laxman said that India lost Mahendra Singh Dhoni's wicket at a wrong time.
"Dhoni's wicket fell at the wrong time, it would be good if that happened around at the end of the day's play," Laxman said after the end of second day's play.
Laxman said the team still needed another partnership to put pressure on Pakistan and the opening session on the third day would be crucial.
"It's very important that we've a good start tomorrow. We have to put them under pressure. Tomorrow's morning session will be very crucial," he said.
"The wicket was deteriorating and it would be tough to bat on the fourth day, as India will have to play last if needed," Laxman said.
On his own performance, Laxman said, "it's one of the important knocks of my career. The situation was tensed when I came at the middle, but I always like such challenging conditions, to play under pressure and perform. I just want to keep the same tomorrow."
