Bikaner (Rajasthan), Mar 1 (ANI): Bikaner locals dressed up in different garbs and played a unique football match on the occasion of 'Holi', the festival of colours.
'Phalgunya Football Match' at the Pushkarna stadium is organized every year in the city.
Manoj Sharma, a participant, said, "We have been organizing this 'Phalgunya Football' match in Bikaner for many years, and in this match participants are dressed up in different attires, as you can see me along with two others have come here as three idiots."
"But these three idiots are not of the modern era, they belong to the ancient period, who spread a message to save water, save electricity and save water, as the absence of these can bring the world to an end," he added.
The participants were dressed up in different attires of different celebrities and even gods and goddesses including those of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and many others.
The spectators were extremely delighted to witness this unique soccer match.
Jeetu Vyas, a participant said, "It was a very exciting match. It was good to see old people participating along with the participants; we got to see their zeal and enthusiasm. Once I felt like playing along with them but since I was not dressed in unique attire, so I could not. But I haven't seen a match like this before."
The star of the event was a participant who had dressed up as Paa, a character played by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachhan in his recent movie 'Paa'.
As the game kicked off, the participants played the game with vigour and fervour while showcasing perfect sportsmanship.
For sports lovers, the football match played by these fancy dress artistes added to their joy of welcoming Holi festival. Everyone enjoyed the fancy dress show and the football match.
These participants also spread social awareness messages to save water, trees and electricity. (ANI)
