Nov 14: Finally the “test of strength” squad has been announced on November 14, as it came as a mix of good luck for those who made it into the team and bad luck for those who did not.
Presence of the off-break spinner Harbhajan Singh did not surprise as his inclusion was very much expected in the 14-member team, but omission of the ace pace bowler Irfan Khan who has made a come back in the game came as a bit of shock.
Struggling with his form the ‘Sultan of Multan’ Virendra Sehwag who made 309 runs against Pakistan has not been able to make it up to the team.
Same treatment has been meted out to good performers, one through his bat Gautam Gambhir who has been left out while the performer with ball Murali Karthik has bawled the selectors and has finally managed to get a slot in the test team.
Indian spinners have earned laurels and hence Harbhajan and Murali can provide the tune to public to sway in Mexican wave.
Ramesh Powar, Ranadeb Bose and Ishant Sharma too have been dropped.
The final 14 in the Test Team are Dinesh Karthik, Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Yuvraj Singh, RP Singh and Murali Kartik.
The first match of the Test series is to be held at Delhi starting from November 22 -26 and the other in Kolkata from November 30-December 4.
The Indian side will visit Australia for a four Test match series beginning from December 26. For the Australia tour the team will be selected at the end of the second Test against Pakistan and the start of third and concluding Test on December 8- 12.
It’s time to watch the highest wicket taker of India, the captain of Test team Anil Kumble, famous for his flipper to prove his mettle with this team which is full of zeal and passion.

This is a very good decision. This decision should have been taken long back. Anil Kumble is one of the most experienced campaigner in the team and very good bowler for the test side and Dhoni is also a good option because he is very young and lot of years left in his career, so both of them anyone is good for the team.
