Kolkata, Nov 19 (ANI): West Bengal Industries and Commerce Minister Nirupam Sen has accused the Trinamool Congress of creating problems in the state government's land acquisition plans, thus delaying industrialisation in the state.
Addressing reporters after inaugurating the first IT Park in Kolkata, Sen said: "Work on various projects in the state is being delayed because of an anti-land acquisition movement.
"The opposition is unfortunately creating problems in matters of land acquisition that is required for industrialisation. We are trying to sort out these problems," he added.
"We are continuing with the process of acquisitions in different parts of our state-in Durgapur, in Asansol, in Purulia, in Panagarh. All these places, we are already on the process of acquisition, and there is a consensus on this, and, the people are supporting us. Therefore, I think that this process is going on, and we are also providing land for industry also," Sen said.
The Trinamool Congress had last year launched a massive protest against the acquisition of farmers' land for Tata Motors' Nano small car plant in Singur village.
Following unending farmers' protests, Tata Motors shifted the Nano project to Gujarat. (ANI)
